Kim Wilkerson, MBA, LPN, CHCE, COS-C, HCS-D, is a home health industry consultant and veteran. One might say that she essentially "grew up" in home health, having spent almost her entire adult life working in it. After working for a few years for other companies, she managed to scrape together $5,000 for an initial payment for a home health agency outside of Houston with a census totaling five patients. Wilkerson sold the agency in 2007 after increasing it to a census of over 500 patients in three offices.
After "retiring" to Key West in 2008, Wilkerson then successfully opened a new home health agency in an area where there had only been one agency for over 25 years. She then sold that agency in 2017. Through these acquisitions, she has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly — and learned from it all. Active now in consulting with a focus on due diligence and compliance, she is a wealth of practical knowledge for anyone contemplating divesting an agency.
